Prayers for various occasions.
1.
Protecting God,
When we fall, you quietly pick us up;
When we fear, you gently hold on to us;
When the future looks bleak, you nudge us onwards,
Until at last we find ourselves
In the place you would have us be. Amen.

2.
The Collect Prayer for the Fourth Sunday in Lent;
O God, you know us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright: grant to us such strength and protection as may support us in all dangers and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
3. VE Day.
We celebrate VE Day remembering the cost of the victory over Nazi Germany but we remember the importance of peace and the personal cost that is asked of each of us.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is offence, let me bring pardon.
Where there is discord, let me bring union.
Where there is error, let me bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
O Master, let me not seek as much
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that one receives,
it is in self-forgetting that one finds,
it is in pardoning that one is pardoned,
it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life.
