All Saints, Huntsham

Our beautiful church of All Saints, Huntsham is set in the wilds of Devon between Bampton and Tiverton. We have locals and visitors from far and wide.

Worship

Worship is at 9.30 am on the third Sunday of the month. Our Holy Communion uses Common Worship and includes couples who are preparing to get married at the church. Weddings take place throughout the year and there are one or two baptisms which follow!

Special services mark the seasons of the year and Easter, Harvest and Christmas are well attended celebrations.

History

The earliest Diocesan record of Huntsham church is the institution of Roger de Respremme in 1263. At one time dedicated to St Mary Magdalene, it is now All Saints Church and has been part of the Beare family and the Troyte family. The present church shows the rebuilding in the 1850s by Arthur Acland together with his wife Fanny.

The enamelled candelabrum hanging in the nave was given by the people of the parish in memory by “Parishioners and Neighbours”. The bells are well maintained and rung for services by the members of the Troyte Ringing Centre. Our clock dates from 1912.

There is more information about the building and history in All Saints’ listing on Historic England.
