Egg Rolling in Clayhanger

The inaugural Clayhanger egg-rolling took place on Easter Saturday.

Some 50 egg-lobbers chanced their arm at earning ovum immortality, in a show of remarkable skill, poise and sportsmanship. Rumour has it the winning egg is still rolling.

Meanwhile, the decorated egg contest saw some incredibly high-quality entries, judged with aplomb by Miriam Wheeler and Laura Stoddart.

Proceedings concluded with cream teas and cake in the church and an Easter egg hunt in the churchyard, rounding off a wonderful afternoon of sport and artistry.

The event raised an impressive £315 for St Peter’s, Clayhanger – thank you to everyone who took part.

It costs £600 each month to keep our beautiful church open – donations, of any size, are always very gratefully received.

In the meantime, please put Easter Saturday 2027 in your diaries!
